The festival of Dussehra, symbolizing the victory of good over evil, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion at St. Joseph’s High School (English Medium), Jokalandi, Bharatpur, Bhubaneswar on 26th September 2025. The school organized a pre-Dussehra celebration in the presence of Rev. Sr. Ancy Mathew (Principal) and Rev. Sr. Keerthana (Vice Principal), as the Dussehra holidays were to begin the following week. The celebration beautifully blended cultural spirit, devotion, and the message of righteousness.
The day began with a short prayer and welcome address, setting a cheerful and festive tone for the morning. Bringing out the joy and energy of the season,the students dressed in vibrant traditional attire, reflected the spirit of the festival through their performances and cheerful participation.

One of the most enjoyable moments of the day was when students and teachers together participated in a lively Dandiya dance. The rhythmic beats, colourful costumes, and bright smiles created an atmosphere of unity and celebration. The dance floor came alive as everyone joined hands to celebrate the festival together, symbolizing joy, togetherness, and cultural harmony.
The teachers also took this opportunity to explain to the students the importance of Dussehra a festival that reminds us of the victory of righteousness, truth, and courage. The children listened attentively and shared their thoughts, learning that Dussehra is not just a festival, but a reminder to choose good over evil in our daily lives.
The pre-Dussehra celebration at St. Joseph’s High School (English Medium) was a perfect blend of learning, culture, and joy. It provided students with a deeper understanding of Indian traditions while encouraging them to live with truth, humility, and goodness.
