The 79th Independence Day of our beloved nation was celebrated with great pride, enthusiasm, and patriotic fervour at St. Joseph’s High School (English Medium), Jokalandi, on 15th August 2025. The entire school community students, teachers, parents, and management gathered with hearts full of respect and love for the nation. The school campus came alive with the colours of the tricolour, echoing the values of freedom, unity, and sacrifice.This is indeed a special and joyful occasion as St.Joseph’s High School English Medium and Odia Medium come together to celebrate Independence Day.

This year, the school was honoured to welcome Sri Digamber Sethi, Advocate of the Odisha High Court, as the Chief Guest of the celebration. He was ceremoniously welcomed with the school band in the presence of Rev. Sr. Ancy Mathew (Principal), Rev. Sr. Keerthana (Vice Principal), Rev. Sr. Subhashree, and Rev. Sr. Sanjukta. The atmosphere was filled with dignity, music, and patriotic spirit as the Chief Guest arrived.

The program began with a theme introduction, setting the tone for the day’s celebrations. The significance of Independence Day was highlighted as a moment to honour the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and as a reminder of our responsibility to contribute positively to the nation’s progress.

The National Flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest, Sri Digamber Sethi, in the presence of the school authorities, staff, students, and parents. As the Tiranga fluttered proudly in the morning sky, the gathering sang the National Anthem led by the students of the English Medium school. The solemn moment instilled deep pride and unity among all present.

Following the flag hoisting, the students participated in a disciplined and energetic March Past, saluting the flag and the Chief Guest. The synchronized steps of the young Josephites showcased their respect for the nation and their commitment to discipline and unity.

  • General Welcome: Rev. Sr. Subhashree extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, and all those gathered.
  • Felicitation: The Chief Guest, Sri Digamber Sethi, was honoured with a sapling, Uttari and a gift as a gesture of respect and appreciation from the school community.

The cultural segment reflected the patriotism and creativity of the students:

  • Speeches in Odia and English: Students eloquently expressed the significance of Independence Day and the role of youth in building the nation.
  • Patriotic Song by Odia Medium Students: A soulful performance that filled the air with emotion and pride.
  • Patriotic Dances: Students performed a variety of dances symbolizing India’s unity in diversity, blending traditional and modern expressions of patriotism.

 

In his inspiring address, Sri Digamber Sethi reminded everyone of the values of justice, freedom, and responsibility that lie at the core of India’s democracy. He encouraged the students to be disciplined, truthful, and hardworking, urging them to become the torchbearers of peace and progress. His words deeply motivated the gathering, especially the young minds.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rev. Sr. Keerthana (Vice Principal). She expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Principal, sisters, teachers, staff, parents, and students for their wholehearted participation and contribution.

As the program drew to a close, the soulful strains of “Vande Mataram” resonated across the campus, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of patriotism. Finally, sweets were distributed among students and staff, marking the joyful end of the occasion.

It is with gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility that I, Sr. Ancy Mathew, take charge as the Principal of St. Joseph’s High School English Medium, Jokalandi, Bharatpur. I acknowledge with appreciation the dedicated service of my predecessor and the strong foundation laid for the growth of this institution.

At St. Joseph’s, we are committed to nurturing young minds through quality education, sound values, and holistic development. With the support of our staff, parents, and well-wishes, I look forward to carrying forward this mission with dedication and enthusiasm.
